This collection is personal for me.
My acceptance into Norfolk State University wasn't big for me just because I wanted the HBCU experience or that I cared about the parties. NSU was where my niece Nyla wanted to go for nursing but never got the opportunity due to her passing away from Lupus. I applied in memory of her.
"BEHOLD HOE" were the first words I said once I received my acceptance.
What started as a funny, raw reaction became something deeper- a way to honor her, to celebrate spartan pride, and to keep her memory alive.
